Life Without Cable TV

It’s been about two weeks so far without cable and it has been surprisingly easy. Having Netflix and internet does help take the edge off though. In the bedroom I still have an older analog TV that weighs about 200 lbs.  I was looking into buying another Wii so I could have Netflix in there and even play some games then I looked into the Roku and decided to go that route since it will do more than the Wii – at least for internet TV. I was impressed with the setup and ease of it. I also like how small it is but it’s not really a full replacement for cable. Maybe I expected a little too much.

I’m sure there is a business reason for it but I wonder why channels don’t offer their channel a la carte or even just offer up full live streams on the internet.

Anyway, cutting cable has been overall for the best. My TV consumption has decreased, my writing increased, reading increased, and even sleep. Oh, and I’m saving a $50 a month so overall not a bad deal.
